A cleverly written satire that will have you laughing out loud!
Meth, Murder & Amazon, by G.S. Gerry, is a tremendously hilarious satire - plucking a piece of "normalcy" about life and turning it inside out; moreover, it is inspired by true events. This story is all about Mr. Grake and his family attempting to sell their home and relocating to start a new chapter. The events that ensue, as bizarre as they may seem, in fact, are completely believable, because they are rooted in reality, not fiction. This is one of the most inventive, quirky and uniquely written stories I have had the honor of reviewing. The writing style is witty and creative - as is its vocabulary. The author cleverly picks up on the common beartraps awaiting home sellers, the shady and corrupt agents, the endless and exhausting showings, the sacrifices and compromises made along the way, all of it encapsulated in a narrative that is so funny and entertaining to read that you simply cannot help but laugh throughout the book. This is an enjoyable read for anyone no matter your preferences, and if you are a survivor of the house market or intend to swim those waters someday, you might find yourself identifying with the plight of the Grakes; but certainly compelled to finish the book to the end to see if they finally escape the maze or if they are swallowed into the maws of the beast.

What inspired you to write?
My inspiration started with a desire to bring something different to the writing world. I wasn’t an avid book reader. I was the kid in school that watched movies to do their book reports. So when I decided to write this book, my main goal was to create something unique. Something unexpected. Whether it’s through humor, mystery, or storytelling mayhem, writing is my way of grabbing life by the collar and saying, “Alright, let’s make something unforgettable out of this mess.” What started out as an inside joke, quickly turned into a passion and an unexpected journey.
Who or what most inspired you in life?
The who is God. Only God could’ve turned a kid who hated to read into an Amazon best selling and award-winning author. I’ve had some incredible life experiences that fueled my writing and it’s all part of God’s greater plan.
Life is probably the greatest inspiration. All of my stories involve different life experiences. Whether it’s as simple as a first time home sale that spirals into accusations of meth and murder or it’s a reality show experience involving your future in-laws. Life is chalked full of interesting moments just waiting to be written.
What do you hope to inspire with your writing?
I hope to inspire readers and writers to challenge the norms. To write unique stories that break the mold. To view life through a different lens filled with ups, downs, and everything in between. And challenge them to see the positives even in the most dire circumstances. Pressure creates diamonds and while we always don’t understand the why, the most important thing to do is to keep pressing forward. There is no telling what kind of impact your next life experience will have on you and quite possibly the world.
I decided to become a writer because life always have a funny way of happening to me. And my books are a testament to that very real fact.
Is there a backstory to your book?
Absolutely there is! Sometimes life really is stranger than fiction. During the summer of 2019, my family and I were attempting to sell our first house and move from Colorado to Florida. During this time, it’s a huge seller’s market. Houses are on the market for 30 days max — at least that’s what we’re told. What was supposed to take 30 days spirals into a chaotic nightmare where it takes six months to sell the house. Along the way, we go through 3 real estate agent, a presumed dead body under a bed during an open house, and wild accusations of meth. All we wanted to do was sell our house, but what we got was something you’ll have to read to believe.
