A story of love & magic…

Martin Moffett is given an opportunity no one should ever have—a second chance to start a new life with his wife… who’s been dead for eleven years.

If Martin plans to spend time with his deceased wife, Noreen, he will have to juggle his blossoming relationship with Janelle and her 14-year-old daughter from a previous marriage, his job at Petro Advertising Agency, his son Kenny's family, and the magician who created the anomaly that made his reunion with Noreen even possible; Falco the Fantabulist…who has a raft of relationship issues of his own with his dead stage assistant, Mitzi.

Our Review

The Anything Room, by Lonnie Busch, has romance, tragedy and magic, all tied up in one excellent and very compelling story. It follows the lives of an entire family, and the curve balls that life throws at them. The author weaves the story with a magical, almost believable thread that captures the imagination, and irrevocably draws one to the very last paragraph of this fascinating story. Busch demonstrates his writing finesse, not only in the story itself, but in the aesthetic metaphors and such, which add color and beauty to the narrative, such as this quote: "The night sky was starless, scuffed with faint clouds giving it the look of a poorly erased black-board."

The book reminds us that true love cannot be erased by time, nor even death, and that those of us left behind when love is stolen from us, are its true victims. It also reminds us that life goes on despite it all. This is a great read for anyone - whether you enjoy romance, drama or even a tint of magic, The Anything Room will not disappoint.

About the author

Interview with International Writers Inspiring Change:

What inspired you to write?

It started years ago quite out of the blue. I was going through a turbulent time in my life, and writing became a great comfort.

Who or what most inspired you in life?

Eventually, when I turned to fiction, the writers I was reading at the time inspired me the most. Through them I discovered the power of well-written prose in bringing a story to life.

What do you hope to inspire with your writing?

Mostly I just want to tell a good story that moves the reader, transports them into an intriguing, immersive world.

Is there a story behind your book?

After writing a fair amount of science fiction, I think I wrote “The Anything Room” from a desire to get back to my more literary roots, while at the same time keeping that magical aspect of story that is so important to me.
